OregonLive: Portland Thorns trade up to select TCU midfielder Yazmeen Ryan with first-round pick

The Portland Thorns got busy early in the NWSL draft Wednesday, trading up one spot from No. 7 to No. 6 to select TCU midfielder Yazmeen Ryan.
Ryan is coming off an MCL injury but is seen as a player who can contribute right away, especially when the Thorns’ superstars head off to the Olympics.
“I just can’t believe that this is happening,” Ryan said through a wide smile while packed with family members on a Zoom call during the draft broadcast.
