TCU flips touted JuCo DL Kelten Mickell from Liberty​

Petal (Miss.) Jones College defensive lineman Kelten Mickell announced on Monday that he’s flipped his commitment from Liberty to TCU.

The top junior college talent was pledged to the Flames since June 24, but is now set to head to Fort Worth next season and play for the Horned Frogs. He also held Power Four offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Miami.

Mickell is ranked as the No. 4 JuCo prospect in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is a former Class of 2023 recruit.

Welcome Kelten! We certainly need talented kids like him in the trenches. And good choice staying away from Liberty and Jerry, Jr. and Becki Falwell and their pursuits with younger men.

The simple answer is Kelten had no understanding of how much he is worth in today’s market.
He is not used to this. Kelten had NO offers coming out of HS. He’s had to earn it the hard way.

Liberty is one school that showed interest in him coming out of HS, but they found what they were looking for in the portal and didn’t offer Kelten. I believe it was easy for Kelten to go back there as there was already an acquaintance.
