He’s pointing out that the people who have been whining about GP being fired are still whining about Sonny who has been actually managing the program rather than losing with extreme talent and making bs excuses and making few changes in his final 3-4 years.
Sonny had one bad year, primarily because we did terrible at recruiting line play in GPs final years…and canned his DC…just as he should have. Avalos bringing in talent. The team is on an upward trajectory. Schedule is tough, but I like where we’re headed. Hopefully the talented but young RB room can be ahead of schedule.
GP was 21-22 in his last four years. At least Sonny could win with GP's players.

Houston loss worse IMO. Team never came to play that night. Totally unmotivated against a terrible team.
GP was 45-44 in Big 12 play and finished in better than 5th place 30% of the time (in a 10-team league), and now all the sudden the bar with a lot of the GP-sycophants is "get to the Big 12 CCG at least every other year and win the conference on a regular basis" or we need to get rid of our lame coach.
It's ridiculous.
That “terrible” UH team beat K-State. Why isn’t anyone calling out the KSU coach who just finished 8-4 despite being the preseason favorite to win the Big 12? How many playoff games has he won?

I wish we never played a bad game but it happens. Houston beat Kansas State too.
We lost at ACS to SMU in 2019 and 2021 when we had FAR more resources than they did.

The Horned Frogs are 14-11 overall since Dykes’ first year. It's ridiculous alright.
What is so ridiculous about that? He inherited a senior laden team (that went 5-7 the year before he got here) that had almost zero depth because the prior two recruiting classes were basically washouts. Mike Gundy is 13-13 over the same period. Kyle Whittingham is 13-12. Dave Aranda is 11-14. Deion Sanders is 13-12.
14-11 isn't great or even good, but it's far from "ridiculous"

Shocker. A rival anonymous coach takes a shot at Sonny as TCU crushes it in recruiting. By the way, doesn't every season really matter for every coach? Lots of coaches can be fired after a sub-par season.

I am optimistic about this year's team, but we do have a tough schedule this year. Other than ACU, there are no easy ones.

How many did GP have after Bumpas retired? I said I think GP in bis prime was better than SD. I’m a little confused.

GP’s ultimate downfall was two-fold:
1) His unwillingness to adapt to change on and off the field.

I’m just going off facts. I said SD has been every bit the coach GP was since Bumpas retired. I don’t see much in the record books that would indicate otherwise.
Speaking of me sounding like Sonny’s agent, I think some people on here have statues of GP in their backyards. Or maybe even front yards.

You didn’t bring up Bumpas until after I posted. I think we are making unrelated arguments. If you are arguing that it was time for Patterson to go I agree. And I agree Sonny was an Ok hire. What I was arguing was that Patterson’s career highlights are so far beyond Sonny’s he won’t likely catch up. Although I would be ecstatic if he did.
