Ole Miss Commit Laquon Treadwell Creates Controversy With Photo of $100 Bills

Ole Miss Rebels five-star recruit Laquon Treadwell is one of the highly touted members of Hugh Freeze’s impressive 2013 recruiting class. Freeze has been able to land a handful of five-star recruits, despite not having the national contender status of many of the SEC’s top teams and now people are beginning to wonder how they have had such success in their recruiting department, especially after Treadwell posted a series of photos.
Treadwell posted some photos that included being surrounded by lovely women and holding $100 bills during his recruiting trip at Ole Miss. Of course, questions of recruiting violations. The five-star receiver immediately deleted the photos, but it was too late.

Ole Miss can't be the only one doing this in the SEC.

I want to give the human race the benefit of the doubt, and assume that no one would be stupid enough to post pictures of their illegal recruiting benefits online, but you never know.

How stupid would you have to be? It's not like this kid didn't know that getting paid money as a recruit is highly against the rules, why would he do that?

Ole Miss has been a cellar dweller for years in the SEC and has struggled to recruit for about the same length of time. Suddenly they bring in a guy who used to be a HS coach and they land a top-10 class like it is no big deal?

I don't think it is as bad as the South Carolina qb answering a question by reporters saying " that's why they pay me, to win games." The reporter even gave him a second chance to clarify- " they pay you?" SC qb, " uh.... Well ... I mean you know ... Uh like scholarship."

Lower the bar... you're giving the human race too much credit.

There are only three ways the University of Mississippi can hope to win football games in the SEC:

1. Ensure that the Manning family always has a college-aged male descendent committed to play QB in Oxford.

2. Return college football to the era before integration when the fact that Ole' Miss is a bizarre university-come-country club didn't hurt its recruiting.

3. Cheat.

Only one of these is actually possible.

People would have said the same thing about us in the 90's. You just need the right coach.

They're in a great conference, the have a cool gameday atmosphere, and they have hot chicks. Sure, they don't have tradition, but that can be overcome.

I'm not saying they aren't cheating, or that I think they're gonna be good.... I have no idea. Just saying I don't think it's impossible

Yea, similiar to Auburn. Middle of the pack, average team recruiting in the 30 and 40's average national rating area. Bring in the new coach and the new strategy and they saw off 3 or 4 top 10 recruiting classes including Scam Newton. Read somewhere that they at one point had 3 of the top 5 running backs in the nations as verbals a couple of years ago before the wheels started flying off.

Yes, but you still don't win game instantly/pull in a great recruiting class instantly. Even with a great coach, you still don't instantly start pulling in top 10 recruiting classes. This just smells fishy.

Head Coaches, being the CEO of the football program should have all the responsibility for their program on their shoulders. If cheating is found to have occurred, their should be a provision that HC will be fired immediately with a 2 year ban from coaching, recruiting, stepping foot on an NCAA member campus, or interacting with any player under NCAA purview. It should be a severe shaming, with significant consequences.

It won't be, but it should be.

Think what such a rule would have done to Jim Wacker.

I hate reactionary, arbitrary rules to meet out punishment. Reminds me of the way the ayatolahs and the Taliban, and some leaders of Christian sects, behave (or behaved in olden times).

Yes, because all coaches are well aware of what every single one of their boosters are up to, at all times.

Talk about an impossible standard to live up to.
