Odds and ends while wondering.....

.....if Stansly Maponga shows up in class tomorrow:

• Will Waymon James be ready to go by the start of Spring drills? The radio silence on Waymon has been deafening
• What is David Johnson's actual weight? He was listed (IIRC) at 270 when he signed and it hasn't changed in three years.....disclaimer = he's one of my favorite players and is plenty good at 270...I'd just like to see him at a little less of a disadvantage
• How does Texas A&M deal with 34 committments? They can have a miximum of only 25 in any given year.....so....will some count against last year? Is there a limit on grey shirts a school can sign ? Or do they just figure on ten or so of their current commits to wander off in another direction?
• Will we have a "qualified" QB coach this year?
• Is there a change in our near term future at the OC position? I'll admit I'm not smart enough to know if a change is needed...maybe the current guy (correctly) limited our offensive plan to the things our personnel could execute....but it seemed to me we never adjusted our offense to acknowledge the reality of a young QB who was better with his feet than his arm and a (mostly) young OL. With Fuente you just had a sense that there was a reason for everything that happened......in the Rose Bowl we rarely tried to block Watt, Andy just read what he was doing and worked around it. This past year it just seemed like we spent entire games just probing and hoping to find some series of things that might work. My apologies to the OC and his family but that's just my honest thought on it.
• Is there something going on at LSU ? The last count I've seen on early departures is 11....in addition, there is an OL who graduated in December but has a year of eligibility left and has enrolled at Tulane. Maybe Tulane has a Master's program that he want's but man, what a migration.
• Companion question to the above ........if there actually is something smelly in the locker room at LSU how do they continue to rack up top five recruiting classes ?

I'm not qualified to judge the OCs.....funny, on the syracuse forum discussing (and cussing) the Allen switch to TCU, the point was made that TCU now has co-OCs, as if that should be a sudden warning and not realizing it has been that way for a year or more....as to LSU, maybe Mike Anderson's is closing, and so hungry young men are departing....

- Waymon James will be cleared to play by the beginning of august - the coaches will work him in slow with Green & Catalon getting most of the early season carries.
-David Johnson still weighs 270.
-A&M & Sumlin are now the recruiting champion of Texas - taking over from Texas & Brown.
-Regarding coaching staff - we need Curtis Luper.
-Regarding LSU - Louisianna kids commit to LSU for all the wrong reasons - because of pressure from neighbors & for the honor of playing for the in state school (sort of like Texas). Once they get there, it ends up like hanging out with the same losers you grew up with.
