Odd that none of his kickoffs were touchbacks. By design? One wouldn't think so, but then, one would not think Oberkrom would not get a single touchback, either.
The missed punt looked like a combination of the hand being in the way and the ball still spinning in his holding hand to get the laces out when Jaden made contact. Not a kicker my self at all, but when I've done it for "[Craig James]-and-giggles" if the ball is moving, even just like last night, it throws off the kick some.
He's a Freshman and it is late in the year. Tired leg/mind. Give him an off-season to work out, mentally recuperate and mature (physically and mentally). Long, long season for someone just out of high school. Still some great potential there. Expect some boomers as early as the bowl game.
Also something I noticed with Oberkrom is his routine and the steps back that he takes for his fieldgoals.
I think he takes 3 steps back and then 3 small steps sideways for his routine. But what's weird is that he takes a bunch of stutter-steps and shuffle-steps right before he's set to start his approach to kick the ball.
That method will always give him a slightly different angle and distance from the ball for each kick. I wish the coaches would check with him on that.
I don't think any NFL kickers do a similar stutter step because it leads to inconsistency in kicks.
