The MAC championship game pits 11-1 Kent State against 11-1 Northern Illinois.

If UL and RU cannot pull out 4th quarter comebacks, they both fall out of the top 25. At that point, the non-AQ bid is automatic for a top-16 ranking.

Kent St was #23 in the BCS, and #25 in both the Harris and Coaches,
UNI was not in the BCS top 25, but is #23 in the coaches and #24 in the Harris.

With many teams ahead of them falling, they should both move into the top 20 in the human polls. I think the winner of the MAC championship leaps 9-2 Boise, who sits at #22 in the BCS depute getting no points in the computers. I doubt playing Nevada will help BSU in the polls or computers much.

So is the MAC championship a BCS play-in game? Pretty high stakes for those two teams if so.

I doubt it. You have to go undefeated in the MAC to get in. Kent State probably won't beat Northern Illinois and Northern Illinois will be kept out by their one point loss to Iowa. The powers that be will keep them just outside the bubble so there's space for a bigger name.

Kent is at #23 in the BCS. So far this week, #16, 18, and 19 have already lost. #15, 17, and 21 all play top 10 teams this week. That's 6 spots needed to move to #17 right there. BSU sits at #22 and hasn't beaten a ranked team since UGA September 3, 2011. That's 7 spots.

UL just scored to force OT, but if they lose this week or next week to Rutgers, Kent State could be playing in a BCS Bowl.

They won't get in. They may get ranked in the top 16 in the human polls but the "computers" will screw them over, just like they did to us last year.
