No longer an option for the foreseeable future. We now play Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and LSU out of conference.
Name of the game is to just win as many games as you can- and then earn status in conference. Plus you never know what is going to be considered a good win at the end of the year anyway. Beating LSU or Penn State on the road at the end of the year would have earned you nothing in 2026- but it would have cost you a home game.

It really is incredible how easily people have forgotten our conference schedule used to be New Mexico, UNLV, Wyoming, CO State, SDSU, etc. You guys sound like a bunch of whiny entitled 16 year-old girls who didn’t get the car they wanted on their sweet 16. And anyone who is “bummed” about dropping SMU clearly hadn’t been to a game in Ford Stadium.

This is probably as good a thread as any to point out an interesting factoid that GP mentioned in a media interview over a USC not too long ago.
He walks into the USC offices, and they have 130 staff there. At TCU, they had 30. Kinda helps put Sonny's challenge in perspective. USC just has a huge budget. 74 mill on football a year (spent) and the on field coaching limits is eased when you have an army of scouts and analysts. When you look at it, we still got some work to do. All it takes is dollars. But there is the reality that USC's support staff/recruiting assistants/analysts outpaces most other programs, even power bigs. I'm sure with Gary was at Texas and saw what big bucks do, he was already making plans.
About the 1min50sec mark:
"Because we were short-staffed at TCU, I didn't really get to do a lot of self-development. We had a lot of staffs come to TCU and watch. I didn't really get a chance to because I wanted my staff to get away, so I stayed around"

$74,000,000. That's just about what they pull down from the B1G. We don't even get half that from the BIGXII. Yes, we're in a P4 (now that the PAC has been picked clean and destroyed), but the playing field is in no way level with the SEC Conference Conference and the B1G.
It's still a club, and we ain't in it.

Funny thing is, I think maybe 4 maybe 5 from the Big 10 are in that club. Maybe 5 or 6 from the SEC. Most are around 57 to 64 million. TCU is estimated at 55 to 60 million on direct football operations, according to it's federal EADA report.
But 75 million is special air. Not sure anybody is close to Ohio State. North of 90 million.
Well, remembering the Alamo Bowl, they obviously did not spend one cent of that $74 zillion on tackling drills..................HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

IIRC, GP did say publicly that he didn't want to play Ohio State there and the only way OSU would agree was to change our home game to a neutral Texas Stadium (which ironically enough, would hold more people than ACS)....

That was a factor in the decision to rob us of a Home Game against the #1 team, but the deciding factor was $5,000,000 in cash from ESPN to do it according to CDC at the time.
