Okay coach, where do I sign?
He is certainly all business. But, not everyone wants that. Enthusiasm and excitement from a coach can also be very appealing.

Apparently most of the good ones do...
I'd guess that players most attracted by enthusiasm and excitement would be far higher risks than ones attracted by a more businesslike approach, all other things being equal.

Not going to win any awards for presentation but the facts and aura bring them in. With probably a little side change........but definitely not as much as some schools.

TCU does a decent job too especially considering the ratings many of the draft picks here had coming out of HS. UT on the other hand...

For the scale of our program we are doing a good job. It’s no coincidence that as our recruiting ability has gotten better over the last 4-5 years, we’ve had more draft picks

if you will recall, a few years back, GP and Saban traded favors. GP coaches got in depth look into Alabama recruiting and Saban coaches came to TCU for a defensive school.
And then Saban figured out that offense was much more important than defense and adapted accordingly. He’s been rewarded with multiple rings since then while we hover around .500.

And/or, Saban figured out and knows that recruiting the country's elite talent, wins championships.

It’s clearly both. He isn’t playing conservative smash mouth football any longer. He’s also on record as saying he now believes good offense beats good defense and he’s adjusted accordingly.
How refreshing, a HC that adjust his philosophy & thinking and bring in new coaches with new ideas to accommodate the new times. That's just unheard of and never works...

Brings in new coaches with new ideas? He doesn't have a choice, he loses a couple every year.

bringing new people on to your staff doesn't always mean new ideas are coming with them, are heard, or actually implemented

Ive always thought that statement by Saban was more powerful not because of how successful he is but because his background is as a defensive guy. He was an NFL DB coach
