Next year for Big 12: Who rises? Who falls?

OU; not OSU (losing coach). Not Baylor. UIT of course will be after coach gone.

I have a hard time seeing Gundy leave OSU. He's got a couple really talented young QBs to work with.. they should be good for a bit. And, that's his alma mater. Not saying he wouldn't leave, I just have a hard time seeing it happen.

Risers:

TCU
OSU
UT
Tech

Levelers (staying about the same):

OU (depends on how their QB situation plays out)
ISU
KU (can't get any worse, don't see how it gets any better)

Fallers:

KSU
BayLOL
WVU

My guesses

Risers:

TCU
UT
OSU
Kansas (they showed a little spunk this year, gave some teams some decent games, maybe it'll translate into some wins)
ISU

Treading water:

OU
WVU (no clue to be honest)
Tech

Declining:

KSU
Baylor - almost put them in the treading water category, I think they're trending up, but will have a new QB

Assuming we have nice developments on TCU's roster and no disasters like 2012, playing Baylor early in the year in 2013, with them breaking in a new QB, could be entertaining for us Frogs.

Gawd knows what the UTx quarterback situation will be next year. Supposedly Mack's trolling for a JuCo. Maybe there's a $cam out there, and maybe Mack's ready to do what it takes to get him on his campus.

Fallers:
KSU (best season was this season and it ain't getting better)
BU (losing Nick is going to hurt; losing Briles and Nick is going to kill BU if that happens; going to be TCU's beeotch for awhile....)

Staying steady:
OU (can't go higher, may drop down to 7-2 in conference...after all, its OU)

ISU(there is a ceiling for the Cyclones and would drop in their coach decides to leave, which is unlikely; might get to 7-5 or 8-4 one of these years, so potentially a riser if the rest of the conference falls)

Tech (middle of the conference team and will stay there, at best with Tubs; so 5-7, 6-6, and 7-5 here we come)

WVU (middle to lower tier team that has little upside without a defense...but at least they get a nice check in the B12; of course, they would have gone to the BCS this season if they had stayed put.....)

Texas (No. 3-5 team in the league and will remain so, but not going to be top 2 under Mack, potential decline)

OSU (if Gundy stays, OSU remains as a top half team, if he leaves, it is back to the lower half.....)

Risers:
KU (close games throughout the season and this year's practice squad(all of whom were better than the players playing) will be good, lead by 5* former BYU QB Jake Heaps; of course, Heaps has happy feet when pressured and hates getting hit, so he will do fine if KU has a good line and when KU plays all the teams with weak defense in the league)

TCU (with James and CP and the defense and a better O-line, this team should be in the top 3 in the league next year)

Based on standings

Rising:

OSU improves on 7-5
TCU ditto
KU gets a conference win next year

Flat:
UT 8-4 or 9-3 seems about right
ISU on the bowl bubble

Falling:
BU loses Florence and TWill, and goes in the 5-7 range
Tech down to about 6-6 post Doege
WVU may be in real trouble post Geno, Bailey, and Awesome
OU will be good but won't win a conference championship. 9-3 or 8-4

We actually play Baylor at the end of the season next year.

TCU (early fave to win conf-KOD?)
Iowa State
Kansas

Fallers:
Tech-Doege kept them in many games, also lose Torres on offense and top 2 defenders in Cody Davis & DJ Johnson
OU-need to replace Jones, and other key loses includeOT Lane Johnson, WR Jalen Saunders, 3 of 4 starting DL King, McFarland & Walker (as well as most of their depth), & DBs Javon Harris& Demontre Hurst.
KSU-Key losses in Klein Bot & Arthur Brown, but a very senior laden team in 2012.
We Virg-lose almost everyone.
Texas-No QB still and lots of people questioning each other. Key losses include only fighter every game for them Kenny Vacarro, DJ Monroe, DJ Grant, transfers?
Baylor-with Lache Seastrunk coming on it will help a lot, but lose Nick Florence, WRs Terrance Williams, Lanear Samson, DB Chance Casey, 3 starting OL, 2 starting DTs,

Unknown:

OkieSt-does Randle go pro?, Gundy stay? Return a lot from 2012 but lose 3 good DEs.

Texas will trend up. They are recruiting better guys than they are graduating and QB will continue to improve either by more experience or by new blood. 8 wins minimum IMO.

KSU will be down unless another JUCO all america squad comes in. It doesn't help losing Klein, Harper, and 8 defensive starters.

KU will still be #10 until they find a QB and defensive talent to replace 5 key seniors on that side of the ball. Losing 3 senior OL will hurt.

ISU will drop off on DL with losing 5 of their front 7 and 2 DB's but offense has the potential for improvement with the young QB.

Tech depends on a lot. They probably fall. They will have a new OC to replace Brown who went to UK and replacing Doege is going to be tough. Lots of talent coming up but losing 3 DB starters, 5 of their 7 main WR's and 3 OL will hurt. D likely improves with 8 starters back including all but one of their entire front 7 two deep.

OSU probably rises as they return everyone important other than Elkins, the two DE's, Brodrick Brown, and 2 OL.

Baylor depends on how much newcomers can improve the pass rush. Getting a medical redshirt for CB Demetri Goodson (broken arm in WVU game) would help. I could see us rise but also fall. It really depends on these areas on D as I am not too worried offensively. We only lose 2 DTs and a safety on D so improvement seems likely considering none were all world players.

On offense BU loses our 2 outside WR's but we have tons of talent ready to slide in. OL will be in pretty good shape and so will TE, Slot WRs, and RB. The only real concern for me is QB. I view it like I viewed your offense's 2010 to 2011 transition. Good OL, good backs, and some younger talent at WR likely to step up. QB is the question and nobody really will know until September.

TCU likely will be better due to experience. You lose Cain, Dawson, Fuller, Folz and Fry but I expect those to be filled painlessly.

OU loses Landry at QB so Bell's passing is a gray area right now and really the only loss on Offense other than their left tackle. DLine graduates a ton of guys and secondary loses 2 and maybe 3 if Jefferson goes early. DL and QB are their big questions.

WVU loses Geno, Tavon, another WR, 3 OL, and that has a lot of potential for dropoff depending on who replaces them.

The conference is too evenly matched to predict much of anything. Anyone in the conference, with the exception of Kansas, can beat anyone else. Kansas is going to continue to improve and will no longer be a guaranteed win. I don't see how anyone gets through the conference undefeated.

On your BU projection:
Casey will be replaced by more talented guys. He was a liability that wouldn't be playing if guys weren't being redshirter.
We are set to lose 2 starting OL but have stockpiled that position in recruiting and have a good juco coming in. OL should be fine.
WR is going to be talented so like RB in 2012 it will likely be going well by midseason at the latest. We do return Reese & Norwood who have played well and have a lot of talent behind the current outside guys. If we have a good QB our offense should be fine.
DT loses a couple of average guys. I don't see dropoff there with the guys we have coming up. Big key is for pass rush to improve on the DL and we have 3-4 guys that will likely make an impact next year like Oakman, Magee, and some redshirts & rising sophomores.

KSU is likely Daniel Sams. He played a lot in mop up duty and is a dangerous runner.
BU is likely Bryce Petty. 6'3 235 with about as much speed as Flo and a very strong arm. Looked good so far but decision making and consistent accuracy is TBD like any new QB.
TT is probably Brewer.
KU is Cummings or BYU transfer/trainwreck Jake Heaps.
