If you have a better explanation, please explain. By all means.

More machines to isolate certain muscles and bulk up more. 20,000 sq. ft. of facilities for weight training alone can do alot of damage, in a good way.

That's not the the way they work there. The emphasis is not on isolating muscles, it is on compound movements (Olympic and others) that hit multiple muscle groups. All you need is a power rack, free weights, resistance bands and a few relatively simple machines to supplement the free weights. You don't need all the fancy machines like the ones you see in the Rec Center and other commercial gyms.

And dannyfrog, It's not like having some super new bicep curl machine will all of a sudden enable athletes to get bigger biceps, you can do that just fine using chin-ups, pull-ups, and the occasional barbell curl. Machines compared to free-weights are borderline worthless anyway unless you're injured or disabled.

The biggest advantage of the new facilities is that it enables them to get more athletes in at the same time and decrease "traffic" as teams move around. So they don't have a problem where 5 guys need a squat rack, but there are only 4 available, if you get what I mean.
