She will have big shoes to fill though

Dr. Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg

ND has done a remarkable job and I trust they’re celebrating his legacy through his last year. That said it’s about time to get a new perspective and new energy. Boschini won’t be around forever (rumor is he may retire or step into a reduced role after the 150th anniversary in 2023 and coinciding conclusion of the current strategic planning phase/capital campaign) so it’d be great to get someone into the provost role that will link TCU to the next chancellor

Don’t know ship about her other than what dirtbag posted above, but she appears to have an impressive résumé.

I like the engineering focus.

Chief academic officer of the university.

To build this out, the Provost is a vice chancellor/veep role (ie Provoat and VC/VP for academic Affairs). It’s often seen as the university’s #2 administrator. The Deans* all report to the Provost so you can see it as one person removed from the top of the faculty hierarchy (professors -> department chairs -> deans -> provost -> president/chancellor).

At least at TCU, Science/Technical people have dominated the Provost position. What at other universities?

Often, yes, they come from heavy research disciplines. At many schools the provost’s office includes a senior associate provost for research, so there’s an expectation the provost knows that complex field and its resource needs.

Important role for our university. Excellent credentials. The environment at TCU is among the best in the country.

From upper New York attitude to Ft. Worth. A BIG change In a short while she will love TCU, Ft. Worth and Texas! Four/five months ought to take care of that.

basically the Provost is the Chief Operating Officer for the University - but since our operations are Academic in nature...
Nope. Operations = all the physical and financial activities required to keep the place running, not academics. The COO at TCU is the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration.

There is no corporate equivalent to a Provost, who oversees all colleges and programs in the Academic Affairs division. The other four administrative divisions (Student Affairs, University Advancement, Marketing & Communication, Human Resources, Finance & Administration) do not report to the Provost.
