New Offer for TCU Basketball

Trent Johnson has offered Barton Community College combo guard Algie Key. Algie is a 6'3 combo guard who was the Jayhawk League freshman of the year last season and is averaging 19 points a game for Barton this year. Still researching his offer sheet, but I can tell you that Kansas was by to see him this month and that he is ranked as the #15 Juco player in the country by Jucojunction.com

Kid knows how to put it in the basket, but is not a great three point shooter.

Since we have three freshmen already in this class it doesn't surprise me that TJ would look at a Juco player to come in and have an impact.

Frankly, I don't care if he can't hit a three as long as he can effectively get to the rim and hit a mid-range jump shot.

I'm so damn tired of watching our guys struggle to make open shots. Not to mention, we need to work on our fast break drills ASAP.

Yeah man, that's what we should do. We should try to outrun teams like Baylor.....

Did you watch the game last night?

We had three 3-on-1 fast breaks in the first ten minutes of the game and didn't score a single point.

I'm not saying that we can outrun teams like Baylor, because we can't. But a positive for this team is that they rotate pretty well on defense and can force a few turnovers. All I'm saying is that it'd be nice to convert those into points.

In looking at his numbers, he appears to be a guy that likes to get to the rim. He also averages around 4 assists a game. I am really hoping we can get Elgin Cook from Northwest Fla St. JUCO

Everything I am reading about the kid says, that he is a great defender, passer, ball handler and rebounder for his size. He screams "Glue Guy" to me. The kind of player that will do all of the little things well and will score when given the opportunity, but not the type you run your offense through.

My fault. I agree with your statement.

Those were brutal. The one that killed me was in the second half, we'd cut the lead to 5. Crossland makes a steal and we have a 2 on 1 break. Should cut it to 3. Instead, we miss, KSU comes down and hits a 3, and we're down by 8.

Quick update on Key. Key visited last weekend and did not commit choosing to keep his options open at this point as he is getting a lot of new interest. Georgia has been checking him out and since that is where he is originally from they could prove to be a player.
