Recent radio interview with ADMB.
La Calma Folks, this is a good Hire. The key is putting a not behind the scenes General Manager in the Football organization. A General Manager manages N.I.L. oversees talent acquisition, ensures Position coordinators are meeting certain metrics such as the offensive line coach/o Coordinator. He/She also manages in-house marketing, stadium day experience and effectiveness along with ticket sales and 100s of other things.

I asked on here several weeks ago, who is our General Manager? I was met with a bunch of "well what do you know" and other indifference. Not one person could name our GM. Our price for a GM is 400 to 700k per annum. Most of the other schools who have a GM in place are paying 600k to 800k. Conform or be cast out.

Absolutely. The GM role is likely going to become among the most important roles on campus.

The AD will hire and manage coaches and deal with conference stuff. The GM will handle NIL and associated fund raising. And likely even some aspects of recruiting evaluation.

I disputed that reply. He was an equipment manager or something to that nature not Real. As a follow up what was his name again? let's look at his vitae. To the best of my recollection, it was beyond a George Carlin or Stephen Wright take on going into airport bathroom's handicap stalls.

If the Brass exists, bring his name up again KBW. Let's check his real credentials. Not his/he/they creds.

No matter who we picked some people were going to complain. When we hired CDC who was thrilled?
No. People bitched and moaned about hitting the Rice AD. I was excited for baseball. Had no clue how strong he was in general. But he too was a great communicator and of very high morality and character. That’s what I’m focusing on with this hire. Similarities impossible to miss…

Jay Fields. Definitely doesn’t sound like “an equipment manager.”

While working for the Fiesta Bowl:

He was then hired to the staff as senior vice president of marketing. He oversaw the Fiesta Bowl's external activities that included sales, marketing, public relations, team services, BCS negotiations, Big 12 Conference relations and various leadership responsibilities.

I am certainly not denigrating Jay Fields track record, but I have the right to scrutinize. Gofrogs.com has definitely altered this background in the last 5 weeks. Let's take a look at just 2 mildly to highly embellished items on his record. Responsible for Revenue Growth & fan engagement? Please quantify how he did this. What I understand is that fans are not happy with "engagement". Institute Beer roll out activities? That is pretty simple to do for even an 8th grader. College students like beer.

Bottom Line is that I don't believe the guy has the Gravitas to be GM of TCU Football Org. However, I wish him beyond well. Going forward let's hope he does well. I just don't think he is spirited/rounded enough to manage the current landscape of CFB with a Canuck upbringing. I have no idea of his physical stature but if he played BBall, Tall guys with subpar resumes can have the tendency to be promoted above more averaged sized guys/girls.

I mean, yeah, there’s just no words.

Also, just to end this discussion as clearly you won’t be satisfied, if your scrutiny ends up with he’s tall and a Canadian as negatives, maybe your scrutiny is looking in the wrong spots.

After the standards that CDC set while he was here, there's only one question that needs to be asked. What is Buddie's suit game like?

Yeah, there is no words. Don't be a charlatan you Scarlet O'Hara. You may not get that cultural reference but that's OK. Bottom Line... What are this guy's accomplishments??

Based on his resume, this is not the direction I would go in hiring an athletic director in this era of college athletics. With that being said, he deserves a chance if this is who we are hiring.

I would feel better if the athletic director was someone that came from and spent time at a serious football school or maybe a bowl director. A good bowl director would have connections to the media (especially ESPN) and know how to develop corporate ties to athletics.
