Never have I seen a university market a player more than aTm has been marketing Manzell. It's literally sickening. Lord, they let the guy attempt a PAT for no other reason than publicity. Has any oither QB in college football history EVER attempted PAT? They are trademarking the saying "Johnny Football" (WTH). They're so full of themselves. What next?

A&M's late to the game....primarily because Manziel was such a surprise.


When he was a senior, Oregon bought a building sized billboard of Joey harrington in TIMES SQUARE.


I hate A&M, but this is nuthin'.

Are you speaking of 2 point conversions, or kicks? I have NEVER seen a QB kick a field goal.

Even if they have done it before, Manzell can't kick, as evidenced by him missing his attempt. It was purelt a publicity stunt.

Honestly A&M didn't start marketing JFF until after the Alabama game when everyone realized that he had a slim shot at it. Most of the Johnny Football stuff has come from the media. A&M isn't trademarking Johnny Football either, that's his family and I don't blame them. Why let others get rich off your son, especially when he won't see a dime of it?

If Dalton had been a contender for the Heisman, would GP have let him kick PAT's? No... Is KSU having Klein deep snap or play safety? No.... Just play the game and let the play on the field be the determining factor.

It lessens the point of the Heisman trophy, it reduces it to a popularity contest, with the guy that has catchyest (sp) hook wining it.

Schools make millions off the merchandising of their athletes, who never see a dime. So the trademarking of Johnny Football is like trying to hold back the tide with a broom.

So you went back 70 years to find a college QB also that kicked field goals.

Congrats, you found an example. What you failed to point out is that he was actually a kicker and was able to put it through the up rights, and thus should be attempting kicks. Manzell is not a kicker, as evidenced by his missing the only attempt he ever made. Blanda was a kicker, Manzell kicking was a publicity stunt.

Steve McMichael - a very large DT/nonKicker - once tried an XP for the Bears. Just because. And it wasn't 70 years ago either. The Flutie story is also true.
