NCAA tourney goes to 68 teams now

it's official.

sooooooo.... if you can't make it into the field of 68 teams, than it's highly probable you would not win the national championship.

That should give those otherwise (3)-best seeded NIT teams an NCAA bid, but who knows how it will actually work out. Politics as usual...

Not sure what the worst seed is to ever win a national championship and make it through all the tourney unscathed. Maybe some team out of the top-20? I don't know. Probably not, but I'm not gonna go look it up..

Most likely Villanova in '85. They were an 8-seed. That was also the first tournament with 64 teams.

I'll worry about it in a few years when TCU actually has a shot at getting back in the thing.

That few years may be closer than we think, if a chance is the criteria.
