Help is pouring in to support the rebuilding of the Texas Hill Country in the wake of historic and deadly flooding, and a man with North Texas ties is leading that effort.

Along with the relief funds working to rebuild Kerr County, volunteers are giving away hundreds of meals to first responders and community members in need.

In Kerr County, five days have passed since the Guadalupe River rushed over its banks, killing more than 80 and leaving an unknown number of people missing.

Long after the search is over the Hill Country will have to heal.

“We have over 20 miles of 200-year-old cypress trees who have been snapped like twigs,” said Austin Dickson, CEO of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. “It just looks like a bomb has gone off over and over and over again.

Dickson is a TCU grad overseeing the main relief fund for the Kerr County area.

My granddaughter Kendall, was a camper at Camp Mystic when this tragedy
occurred. Fortunately, she survived. She and some of her fellow campers were
moved to a second floor location. Water rose within two feet of where they were
situated before receding. Praise be to God......
