Do you really think all of the talented players would have stayed had he stayed around for 2022? I suspect we would have had some players transfer had he stayed in 2022. I doubt we get certain players in the portal that made a difference that year.
Agree. GP would have gone 7-5 at best and choked down the offense to make his defensive stats look better. SD came in with an offensive mindset and Max went crazy. The transfers he brought in all contributed. Magical year.

We need to place the blame where it belongs for Friday night. The players didn't play hard enough. The coaches can't play. These players are not good enough or they need to play harder. And the defense has to play better.

And I know for a fact that Josh isn't here if GP was still here.

One of the most awkwardly memorable pressers I’ve ever seen was when Wade Phillips was coaching Dallas. He had just endured a very mediocre season, and you could just tell that he’d come to the cameras on the heels of a most unpleasant sit-down with Jerruh.
Had the most hang-dog look you’ll ever see on a guy not on Death Row, and in trying to address his plan for improvement the next season, literally uttered the words, “We just have to be more, you know, whatever.”
Of course he was gone the following year.
I suspect that’s the kind of improvement plan we’d get from Sonny right now, if he had to try to articulate one.
Yes, Spot on "Hang dog" look. Chan Gailey and Bum Phillips Prodigal son. Probably the Cowgirls most successful coaches in last quarter century. Jerruh gave them 2-3 years and Jason "ivy Boy" Garrett 9 + years. Look at the records. Garrett talking [ Finebaum ] on "Football night in America "right now.

Yeah, kinda thought he was screwed walking in there. That place was a mess. He wanted something big. He should have consulted some folks.

Kinda like how lacking facilities were when Richt was in Athens. Amazing what he did considering the arms race. He faced it again at Miami. (Then he started the battle of his life for his life without truly knowing how much and he had to hang it up.)

Stop ... Please stop all the nonsense. As I've requested on previous posts. Frank Cignetti Jr OR Jim Leonhard. Research their backgrounds and their accomplishments. These two are hard core alpha dogs who know how to balance the new NIL landscape and pro aspirations .

Go get a winning head coach from the Power 4. We have money, facilities and are in the recruiting belt.

Stop the little man syndrome. we are not in the conf USA world anymore. That little man syndrome got us SD.
G.J. Kinne >>> like because he played football, but he does not know game management. Proven by his end of game antics this year. He does not have a national perspective but perhaps could learn.

Barry Odom >>> the definition of mediocrity. the rest of the season will prove out.

Garrett Riley >>> I'm convinced this S.O.B orchestrated a deal between the CFP win against Michigan and the National Championship with Georgia. Clemson's tampering with Punk Riley's led to a deflation of TCU player's motivation and esprit de Corp in Georgia Game.

Glen Schumann >> Don't know anything about.

Unlike the past, we need to be careful not to overspend on coaches in the era of NIL and portal. Otherwise, the new coach may not have the resources to succeed.

The main thing I generally want in a coach is someone that’s a proven overachiever that has had some head coaching experience even if it is in high school. I don’t care if they came from a lower collegiate level or was a coordinator at a P4 conference. I would prefer someone with Texas ties but it is not mandatory.

Different discussion (sorta), but it is very cool to see Jerry Kill still having a big impact. And now Vandy is benefitting from his ability to scheme and a qb he brought with him.
"Ultimately Kill took the New Mexico State head coaching job in 2022. Kill took over one of the worst programs in the FBS coming off a 2-10 season. The Aggies had one winning season in 20-years before Kill's arrival in Las Cruces. Kill got them to a bowl game in year one, and last season he led New Mexico State to a road upset of Auburn and a berth in the C-USA Championship Game. They won 10 games, the most the program had won since 1960."

Probably a good reminder for many of us. Don't let a challenge in life stop you from living it.

This is not how it works. And, if a fair number of our top competitors can out NIL us, we sure as sh*t better have a coach that checks all the boxes.
