Rumor, rumor rumor has it:

Boise State contacting Bryan Harsin and Brent Pease about a possible opening at their school.........

I have to think this is the best hire for Ark and a chance for Petersen to step up in salary at least.

Seems crazy that he would take Arky as he has turned down better jobs in the past. IF he is really willing to leave Boise why not place a call to Tennessee? That's a much better job than Arky.

I kinda like Mr. Gimmick being the OC at ut. Drives their fans crazy, and it's funny to watch them melt down every other week.

That said I would choose tennessee over arky.

I thought I'd read somewhere that USC tested the waters with him before hiring Kiffin. That's not to say there was an offer to actually turn down. Perhaps he's just sick of Boise's conference headaches. But even still, who in their right mind would want to share the SEC West with Saban, Miles, Sumlin, Mullen, and whoever Auburn will hire? Not only would it be very difficult to satisfy the Arkansas fans and admin's expectations without cheating, but even if you do cheat it is highly probable that someone in your division is cheating more effectively. Nightmare scenario in my opinion. Avoiding the SEC altogether makes the most sense.

Boise is not in a good position anymore. No more BCS and no more BE means its not the same job that it one was. I can't blame home for listening to other offers.

Not sure Tenn would see Petersen as a good fit for their program. Even though they have a complete changeover in regime from AD on down, the auro of Fulmer still pervades over the program.

He turned down $4mm/yr from UCLA last year in addition to Stanford. Not sure what else he's turned down behind closed doors.

I personally think that Stanford and UCLA are better jobs than Arky, but that's just me. I would rather live in Westwood or Palo Alto than Fayettville and at Stanford/UCLA you would have a solid chance at the Rose Bowl (one of them will play in the Rose this year).

I agree. Him taking the Arky job is completely nuts to me. Tennessee is the better job opening in the SEC. Auburn too, but for the sanctions. Colorado seems like the best fit for him. I think he'd work wonders there.

Cal seems like the likliest of the current openings we know about. Oregon, maybe? There was some buzz earlier this year about it when Kelly was rumored for the Tampa Bay job. Personally, I think he stays put.

While the Big 12 seems stable, there are an incredible number of open positions in the Big 10, Pac-12, ACC, and SEC. Cal folks seem to think they're getting Sonny Dykes. At least that's what is all over the Cal fan sites. I think Sonny Dykes is heading somewhere. It would be a good time to be looking to move up, with all those openings. You could pretty much pick you spot right now. If Tuberville or Briles took the SEC bait, I'd look for Sonny Dykes to move to the Big 12.

Cal is not going to pay huge money for a head coach. Seems like Mike MacIntyre from San Jose State is the favorite there.

Like I said I'll only believe Petersen to Arky when I see it. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface. Tennessee still thinks it will get Jon Gruden.

Personally, I believe Cal is a better fit for Peterson.

He is a west coast guy.
