MLive: Michigan State plans to counter TCU speed with Big Ten power football

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Dion Sims' pulse didn't quicken, his eyes didn't narrow and the tone of his voice didn't change when confronted with the concept that TCU is a faster team than Michigan State.

The Spartans tight end didn't seem offended or bothered by the idea that the Horned Frogs (7-5) held an advantage in foot speed over MSU (6-6) heading into tonight's 10:15 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

"We respect the Big 12, it's a tough conference, and they (TCU) are a lot faster than we are,'' the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Sims said. "They're smaller guys, and we're going to pound them all day.

"The game of football is about being physical and coming out and battling the man across from you,'' Sims calmly explained. "I don't think they've faced a team that is as physical as we will be.'' ...

I think they actually are pretty good. They lost 5 games by like a combined 9 points. Multiple losses by only a point or two. And they are not slow. They are not as good as the Wisconsin team we played In the Rose Bowl, but we aren't as good as the TCU team that played in the Rose Bowl. Should be a hell of a game.
