MLive: Michigan State football receiver Keith Mumphery brings optimism, great potential, into Spartans' future

EAST LANSING — Michigan State sophomore Keith Mumphery wore an expression of shock when asked earlier this week about the Spartans' struggles at receiver this season.
"When? Earlier this year?'' Mumphery said. "We're getting pretty good right now. We're doing all the little things.
"I think we were thinking too much earlier this season.''
It would be hard to blame Mumphery — he had as many tackles last season (2) on special teams as he did receptions in 2011.
This season, the third-year sophomore from Vienna, Ga., tied for the team lead with 41 receptions (for 511 yards and one touchdown) and was named the most improved player on offense at the team banquet on Dec. 2. ...
