MLive: Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio playing chess master, considering all possible moves

EAST LANSING —The wheels have been turning for Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio as he prepares the Spartans for their tremendous bowl challenge next Saturday night.
Dantonio has put Michigan State through eight practices, and he's scheduled the Spartans (6-6) to arrive in Tempe, Ariz., on Christmas Eve for their game against TCU (7-5) at 10:15 p.m. at Sun Devil Stadium.
Like a chess master calculating potential moves for each piece, Dantonio has slid his Spartans around with a plan in mind for each.
Lawrence "LT" Thomas' move from fullback to defensive line — he'll play both against the Horned Frogs — has drawn the most attention.
But Dantonio is also clearly excited about the opportunity that has presented for TyQuan Hammock, a 6-foot, 245-pounder with speed and a nasty attitude between the lines. ...
