TCU defense not performing up to par, but Brown knows unit plenty capable

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — TCU head coach Gary Patterson has long been regarded as one of college football’s best defensive minds.
From 2008-2010, the Horned Frogs became the third team in NCAA history to lead the nation in total defense three straight seasons under Patterson, who was TCU’s defensive coordinator from 1998-2000 before beginning a tenure that became the longest of any head coach in school history.
“Gary Patterson is a veteran. Personally, I have a lot of respect for him, and I have a lot of respect for the program he’s established,” West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said. “To do it for an extended period of time, especially in this day and age, is special.”
