Men's Hoops vs. UAB

Tonight's Stats

Scoring
Anderson 35
Green 14
McKinney 9
Abron 7
Crossland 5
Butler 4
Ray 2

FG 56% 3pt 16.7% FT 81%

Standing ovation for Kyan tonight, wow. 35 points and 4 rebounds. He hit 13-20 from the floor and 8-10 from the line including clutch FTs at the end of the game. That's what leaders do.

Also nice to see our quieter captain, Garlon Green very quietly put in 14 points on an impressive 6-7 shooting. We need this kind of production from him if we hope to be competitive.

Free throw shooting won us this game tonight. I'll take 17-21 from the line anytime. McKinney going 5-6 was huge and for Anderson and Green to make those last 4 sealed the win.

McKinney played very well tonight when Abron got into foul trouble. Abron was able to give us 7 points and 6 boards in only 11 minutes tonight, but McKinney was able to come in and put up some very good production, really no drop off from Abron to Adrick tonight. McKinney with 9 pts and 6 boards.

Talked with RicksterH several times during the game (he was sitting directly behind the bench), and I'm sure that old Frog instilled some enthusiasm to the offense.

As many points in one game as the last two combined. Must have been an actual basketball game played. Good updates Guardian.

Guardian - when the game is done could we get an analysis of how relatively good UAB is to us (on paper) and others we've played?

UAB is an average to below average CUSA team. New coach, a lot of new faces and they opted to try to plug in their holes with some Juco guys like Rucker who is their leading scorer. I would classify them as better than SMU, Tulsa, Rice and those types of teams. They still have some nice guys, but not the same talent they had for the recent tourney teams.

So far this year they have beaten Navy, Prairie View and a DIII school. Lost to a tough Creighton team, Illinois St. and the Frogs.

Garlon is going to be the key to our field goal percentages this year! This is the first game he showed up for his shooting and proud of him!

Turnovers were a killer tonight but that comes with a young team I guess! We had 19 to their 18 plus only got 17 pints off turnovers to their 21.

The biggest thing I hope to see a change in is rebounding! We won that battle tonight but the teams get tougher from here on out. We out rebounded them 31 to 28 tonight.

I'll stick to the idea we need to average 45% from the field this year to have a chance at having a good season. Would that be enough to win against Baylor? Maybe maybe not! Depends on our defense! But a great win tonight and may have to go to another game this coming week because I enjoyed the Navy game!

The offense was so much better today. We moved the ball around well today and got shots in the right positions. We let them get easy shots but got a couple of big stops too.
