The media has danced around the idea that Georgetown is the least willing of the Catholic 7 to leave the Big East.

I'm hearing here in DC the possibility of Georgetown to go all-sports (FB is Div 1-AA/FCS and not changing) in the ACC.

#16 even number of schools for Basketball.

Ups the ACCs B-ball cred. Big time.

Replaces UMD for the Washington DC market

Top 25 Academics - would please Duke, UVA, UNC, Ga Tech and ACC Presidents

Weakens the C-7 for their want to remain at Madison Sq Garden for the B-ball tourney...ACC could take over this spot.

Makes sense.

I didn't see this coming!

If this is true it would probably further upset the ACC "football" schools possibly allowing them to strongly consider leaving.

Maybe all 7 will join.

Then FSU, Miami, Clemson, and Louisville will go to the B12; NC State and Va Tech will go to the SEC; and GaTech and UVA (or someone) will go to the B1G.

More wild speculation.

You could call the new ACC the Big East.

It is a good move. ACC lost DC with Maryland leaving, but they gain it right back with Georgetown.

ACC has really made some great moves despite the attacks on its conference. The best move on their part was making ESPN its partner in which has saved that conference time and time and continues to look over that conferences best interests over all others. Shoot, Big 12 doesn't move on that conference because ESPN tells them only Notre Dame is the only school that would boost Big 12 profits and Big 12 listened.

G'town to the ACC makes a level of sense. Still, call me skeptical.

That'd be one even more badass basketball league.

Yea, this could be the version of Temple in all sports to the Beast that finished off the conference in the first place. Irony.

Tulane weakened the Big East. I don't see the parallel with Georgetown. They'd only strengthen the league for the sports they participate in.

No comparison intended beyond the possibility that they both may be the team that push some decision makers over the edge regarding alignment.
