Matt Millen's Game Call

Just getting a chance to watch the first half of the game. Millen's been significantly better as an announcer than a GM and coach. He offered up some great insight and to this point in the game, he's been extremely complimentary of our program. I'll be watching the second half later.

He is quite good. Prior to his GM days he seemed too interested in being a John Madden starter kit than giving a true analysis as color man. Very fair also.

Funny. I thought he sounded like a goon. Did not do homework.. Said "TCU team not known for making mistakes, one of the least penalized teams all year". What??? Said some other things I can't remember but I kept thinking he has not seen this team or researched it at all. Obvious, a lot of these guys just come in and wing it.

Concur. He did our game with Clemson last week and I was pleseantly surprised. Enjoyed his call of the TCU game this week, too. His partner on the other hand....

Millen was watching film on TCU as early as Thursday on campus. So...he definitely did not come in and just wing it. I guess he just didn't notice a certain OL's propensity to false start or get a little too aggressive.

Yeah, that "certain OL" is good for about 35-40 yards a game in the wrong direction. He gives me fits. As for Millen's comments about the team not being heavily penalized, compared to a few years back, we've come a long way. We used to get at least two to three untimely and boneheaded PF call on defense a game. This year, not so much. The on-the-field discipline level is high for the defense, which I think was his greater point. Still, you can tell he has a genuine joy and passion for seeing what going on and during the ebbs and flows of a game. Hate to say it, but Herbie is a pretty good Xs and Os caller, too.
