I'm sorry but taking the Arkie State and FIU HC jobs are not promotions from being the OC/DC at UT. They want to get off this burning plane ASAP.

I think if Fuentes had it to do over again he would have reconsidered the Memphis job but supposed Top 10 jobs like UT says they are...shouldn't drive their coordinators to interview and accept positions schools like ArkSU and FIU.

Just another example of how far the Whorns program has fallen.

There's nothing wrong with taking a "stepping stone" job like ASU or FIU. You have to start somewhere as a head coach and if you can build a track record of success at schools like that, you'll get a better job.

[what's his first name, Hugh I think] Freese. 1 year at Arkie State -----> Ole Miss.

Gus Mahlzan. 1 year at Arkie State ------> Auburn.

ASU sounds like a good first job for a head coach that's willing to move around, to me.

Manny _iaz (as he is usually referred to on "Shaggy") better git while the gittin's good. He's clinging to the door post of the bus, on Mack's staff.

Mack has been known to wholesale fire assistants and bring on new ones. But he may have a legitimate excuse this year with the youth of the team. Of course, that beggs the question of why the team is so young, with all those large and highly rated classes the last few years.

If he can just hang on for 5 years, TCU will be in the driver's seat, football wise, of the B12.

Hugh was an elevated OC at ArkSt who was also an Ole Miss grad...that's why he got an SEC job. And Gus was looking to jump off the Chizik disaster and was an Ark native....that's why he took Ark. State.

Point being both had ties to ArkSt before they took it...and Gus wanted out. Just like Harsin does.

A year ago, UT thought so highly of Diaz that they did not grant UH permission to interview him.

Now he's interviewing for FIU?

Hilarious.
