SMU is owning the ACC. It’s amazing - and they had to buy their way into that league.
They also got handed the easiest schedule in the conference. I think their SOS is something like 90th in FBS. They’ve had lucky wins against Nevada, Duke, and BC.

Not saying SMU is bad. Definitely the best team they’ve had in decades. And Lashlee is a really good coach. But they’ve had pretty much every single break go their way from schedule to in-game wackiness. Hell, look at their game against us. When’s the last time a team has had 4 TDs off of defense and special teams in a game? Btw not saying we would have won that game because our D was atrocious.

What concerns me about SMU is that historically speaking, TCU and SMU have not been strong programs simultaneously unless one goes back 75+ years. It's as if the metroplex doesn't have room for 2 prominent teams. That said, with the portal and both programs having N-I-L resources and competing in different conferences, now could be different even though I wish SMU no good fortune.

I’m hoping our team is finally starting to jell and will finally come of age after post season workouts, a bowl game win and an excellent off season adding more talent and players being able to just play and not having to think as much.

Exactly. I hope they play ND in the playoffs. They will get stomped.

Every team that makes it can say that. Look at all the things that fell our way in the natty game year. Calls go your way, injuries go your way, schedule goes your way, the weather, and on and on.

I've watched two ND games (not inc. NIU) and 3 SMU games this year(not including TCU/SMU). I think SMU DL will whip the ND OL. Although ND & SMUs skill position people are a draw, SMU is light years better at scheme and utilizing their talent than ND. IOW ND is inferior in coaching to SMU.
