Texas head coach Mack Brown quit the Mr. Nice Guy routine Wednesday at his signing day press conference, saying the Longhorns would no longer permit committed recruits to flirt with other schools.
Five players, all highly touted, decommited from Texas in the 2013 class. The most recent decommitment came Saturday when word leaked that five-star defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson would flip on his verbal to the Longhorns and head to Alabama.
“If you go look, we’re gonna go look,” Brown said. “It’s dog eat dog out there right now. The 15 we got are very passionate about being at Texas. If a young person tells you they’re coming and their parents are telling you they’re coming and they back out, you don’t want them to be here, very honestly.”

So, if they back out then you don't want them. That makes sense. Is signing day really the right time to be airing this stuff out? I'm sure alot of these kids were committed before the 2012 season. If something developed that they didn't like it's their right to reconsider. UT doesn't get a top 5 class and everything is going to hell in a handbasket apparently.

LMAO!
Talk about sour grapes he's the one that sounds like a 18 yo that was just told that he couldn't have the car keys on Saturday night!

I guess this means Mack isn't going to recruit anybody that is already committed to another school from now on, seeing as how it's so unbecoming of the kids to look around after they commit. Say hi to Daje for us Mack.

Exactly....was thinking the same thing. And Mike Davis who he flipped last minute from LSU, and probably 5 other guys that committed somewhere else before signing with the Whorns. Screw Mack. Hypocritical POS. He's just mad because people are actually switching once they see the product they are putting out on the field in the fall...and the awful coaching associated with it.

NW coach Pat Fitzgerald pulled as scholly of a guy that looked elsewhere while verbally commited to the Kats.

Not sure if that is a good long-term strategy.

Also, can we claim a$$^ when Mack poaches a committed player from another school???

bingo! I'm not sure he really thought that statement through when he made it...he's just getting old and a bitter. He had a good run for a long time and it's time he hangs it up. Of course, I wish he stays put for several more years...

So last year old butter-tooth repeatedly told Daje Johnson to stay with his commitment to TCU but finally relented when the young man insisted and allowed him to flip from TCU to UT......because Mack has no respect for kids and the parents of kids who switch commitments at the last minute…. Riiiiight
