Lubbock A-J: Tech, TCU set to tangle under the Thursday lights

Texas Tech and TCU have a national stage for themselves Thursday night in Fort Worth. Whether either team gets to showcase its first-string quarterback is another story.
Both teams’ quarterbacks got hurt in the previous game, and their statuses are uncertain when Tech and TCU tee it up at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Amon Carter Stadium. Both teams are 3-2 and 1-1 in the Big 12 and can ill afford another loss if they want to stay in the race into November.
Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and TCU coach Gary Patterson haven’t said who’ll be leading their teams. Tech quarterback Alan Bowman spent four nights in a Lubbock hospital after he suffered a partially collapsed lung in a Sept. 29 loss to West Virginia. Later the same night, TCU quarterback Shawn Robinson left a 17-14 win against Iowa State after taking a hard hit on his non-throwing shoulder — the same left shoulder that’s already been hurt this season.
