LSU new offensive coordinator?

Sorry if already posted but Cam Cameron has been reported as LSU new offensive coordinator. That is a power move by the tigers. I hope he doesn't figure out that offense by August 31st.

Cam Cameron has always been somewhat of an enigma to me. He seems to be pretty well regarded but he also seems to get fired at a somewhat frequent rate. Have to wonder how he keeps resurfacing.

Even though he has a pretty good résumé, I like our chances against a team playing its first game with a new OC.

On the one hand, they may have few kinks to work out. On the other, kind of makes preparation more difficult for the defensive coaches not really having film of him coordinating a college offense recently.

Cam Cameron is a smart guy, but he was often criticized for being too pass-heavy with his play calling. He is pretty much a 'West Coast Offense' guy, and he does have a solid history of developing QBs. It's a much, much better hire than their last one (Kragthorpe)...although in fairness, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's right after he got the job.

It is prob best for TCU if LSU does not figure out pass offense until after 1st game. HORRIFIC play calling for most 2012 is why Cameron got ANOTHER job.

I think overall Cam Cameron is a decent OC, but I agree that he tends to be too pass heavy at times in his play calling. He also didn't always have a great feel for the game. It sometimes felt like he was trying to outsmart himself with his playcalling for the Ravens: "We are running well, so they will expect us to run, so we are going to pass." The Ravens would be doing well offensively for a quarter and then they would suddenly go cold. I got the sense that a lot of that had to do with Cameron trying to be too "cute" on offense instead of just going with what the defense was giving you.

Having listened to a lot of interviews post Superbowl, I think the biggest knock on Cameron is wasn't real interested in hearing anyone else's opinion. They said that the biggest difference between Cameron and Jim Caldwell is that folks like Willie Montgomery, the RB coach, had a lot more input on the offensive gameplan once Caldwell took over the play calling duties. I will say that we seemed to have a much better fluidity in our offensive game once Caldwell took over.

Cameron has had quite a bit of success as an OC over the years...he was the OC on the Chargers the year they went 14-2. But I recently heard LT on the radio saying a lot of the players blamed Cameron for the loss in the AFC Championship game against the Pat (?) because he kept throwing in the 4th quarter when they had a 10 point lead, versus running and using up the game clock.

He might have better luck in college than the NFL, but I think he's someone to take seriously regardless.
