Louisiana Tech, 9-3 and top offense in the country, receives no bowl bid

Their athletic director turned down an Independence Bowl invite in hopes of getting a better bowl bid.

No bowl came calling.

Therefore the team is not going to a bowl game.

Looks like there will be an athletic director opening at Louisiana Tech tomorrow.

If I were an LA Tech player, especially a senior, I would be pissed out of my mind right now.

This isn't the first time they've had something like this happen. In 1999 they went 8-3, including a victory over #18 Alabama. Their losses were to Florida State, Texas A&M, and Southern Cal. There were an independent at the time and received no bowl invitation.

This is TOTALLY on LA TECH worthless administration --- Indy bowl was set to match them against ULM which is an old testy rival. The La Tech admin has been refusing to play La Monroe for years, and they deserve to be home on their butts after this stunt.

Their fan site is down. I visited it a couple of days ago and they had definitely turned down an Independence Bowl invitation vs. La-Monroe. They were hoping for Heart of Dallas against the Big 10.

IOW...they thought OU was going to the BCS.

Independence Bowl offered them, but La Tech wanted to wait and see if they got a better offer (supposedly a couple of other bowl were looking at them). The Independence Bowl put a deadline on them so La Tech said no. Then no other offer came.

No offense, but I'm with the other poster that said "are we sure this really happened?" You just repeated the OP with no link. I can't imagine a school would really do that. Can't imagine it. If that really happened just like you said, heads should roll.

Independence Bowl is officially ULM vs Ohio. And La Tech is officially staying home....unless they can cut a deal with the MAC.

Do the math.
