I'm not completely surprised. And it wouldn't surprise me if most people are buying through StubHub since tickets are much cheaper that way, but I doubt anyone wants to spend so much money to go all the way to AZ to see a 6-6 team that's an offensive trainwreck.

Any indication of how many TCU has sold? TCU ticket office hasn't announced yet that I can find.

They haven't responded when our beat writer asked. The silence probably tells you everything we need to know. I'd imagine both schools are probably in the same boat for similar reasons.

And you know what? Neither the bowl nor ESPN is going to care. The bowl folks got their money for those 22000 tickets, and to ESPN the stadium is just a giant TV studio. And this bowl won't be alone....most of them will be like this.


Look at it this way...if both MSU and TCU sell about the same amount of tickets, who's going to look worse...the giant state school or the little private school? And the other Big 12 bowls won't hold it against us because they all know how the game is played. Besides, with the late kickoff on a Saturday night most of the country east of the Rockies won't even see it.

Nobody will care regardless about a 7-5/6-6 matchup that doesn't involve any big moneymakers.

That said, the matchup is awesome.

I've heard we have sold around 3500, a lot of TCU fans have laid out big bucks to CA and AZ for Fiesta and Rose. Also, I'll bet many fans are saving their money for LSU-TCU tickets, you know Jerry will charge a pretty penny for those

Jerry doesn't set those prices. The schools do. The schools get to keep all ticket proceeds. Just found this out the other day. Jerry just gets all concessions and parking. Doesn't even charge to use the stajium.

Hardly anyone will go to this game -- or any of the other 25 meaningless bowls being played this season. I'm very glad we're in a bowl, but TCU (7-5) vs. MSU (6-6) is a glorified exhibition game. I know of very few people who have the time and the money to fly out there for it.

If we had gone to Houston or San Antonio -- maybe I would have gone.

I cannot imagine anyone staying home from the bowl game because they are saving money for the LSU game. Going to the bowl game can easily cost $1,000 or more total expenses. That alone is enough to keep many from going. The LSU game will be under $200 and its not for another 9 months.
