ACC schools say they're united

The Atlantic Coast Conference presidents said Thursday any speculation about any additional member schools leaving the league is "totally false."

Because of non-stop speculation concerning ACC members moving to other leagues, the ACC's 15 presidents issued a statement reaffirming their commitment.
The statement was initiated by presidents of Florida State (Eric Barron), Clemson (James Barker), Georgia Tech (Bud Peterson), North Carolina (Holden Thorp) and Virginia Tech (Charles Steger) -- whose schools have been the most speculated targets of the Big Ten or Big 12 conferences.
All 15 presidents, including future members Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Louisville, unanimously agreed on issuing the statement and the language of it.
The ACC's vow of solidarity comes a month after Maryland announced it was leaving the ACC for the Big Ten. Maryland officials have said they don't feel they have to pay the full $52 million exit fee, a stance Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman agreed with on Wednesday.

Eric Barron is an idiot of epic proportions. He was an idiot before he became a university administrator and he has continued to act as an idiot since. He's a foolish man and Florida State would be much better off if they sent him packing. He's one of their better known alumni, so they'll let him hang around damaging the university for as long as he pleases.

Doubt this is a strong agreement. Miami , Clemson and FSU are tired of being pushed around by bball schools like duke and UNC. And they just added two more in Syracuse and Pitt.

Nebraska's Chancellor said he doesn't belive Maryland owes the exit fee. Did he sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. His reasoning is ?

Anybody who thinks that the ACC is going to "stand pat" must believe there are 10 teams in the PAC 10, 10 teams in the Big 10, and 12 teams in the Big 12.

Wait until the music stops and the first chair in removed. The scramble with then begin and the Big 12 will be looking like a good place to park and tailgate.

Nothing happens without the blessing of the Pope ESPN in these matters, so it all depends upon what they want.

With the addition of FSU/Clemson, the BIGXII becomes a much better top-to-bottom conference than the SEC. But, FOX owns the Tier 1 rights. Does ESPN want such an arrangement? Who knows...
