Looking to try new Fort Worth tex mex place

Jensen's Cafe knocks the doors off of OPH, IMO. They have stuffed French toast that is phenomenal and their syrup is fantastic too.

FYI. :)
My sister took us to Jensen’s Cafe yesterday and I was very pleased. The stuffed French toast had a smear of three-berry jam and cream cheese and was properly soaked in egg wash - melt in your mouth soft in the middle. I had the Swedish pancakes (as thin or thinner than crepes) with lingonberries which were terrific! Yes, the hazy buttery syrup is fantastic - I was told they add butter, cream and brown sugar to the maple syrup. The hashbrowns were properly fried like a flat cake, being crispy brown on top and soft in the middle.

Lots of windows, so plenty of natural morning light even on a rainy day.

Glad you enjoyed it. They sell that syrup as well; not sure it's THAT great but they are very consistent with their food and service - a big plus for me.

The friendly high school age waitress spilled coffee on my cream colored Astros cap that was sitting on top of the table so she comped all of our coffees. It was a full house on a late morning rainy day and I tipped her a bit more for the free coffee. I told her I slopped some lingonberry compote on the cap too and it all adds to the retro look of the cap. But I laundered it last night.

No time to read the whole thread, but can’t talk about good hole in the wall Mexican food around here without mentioning Chuy’s (not the crappy Austin chain). Only ones left I know of are in the mid cities on Belknap/Haltom Road and over by Eagle Mountain Lake on that big bend in Boat Club Road.

My family has been going to Mexico Real on McCart since it was originally Beceras. Still really solid Tex Mex that fills me up, for an affordable price.

Apologies, didn't see the hole-in-the-wall part.

We went to Mercardo Juarez last month and it was really good. The salsa and chips were warm and the chicken enchiladas plus rice and beans were tasty. My mother got the Charro beans instead of refried and said they were good.

Founded by the late Don Bowden.

I loved going there as a kid. Once got the mariachis to sing Michael Jackson’s “Beat it”

Juan’s Burrito Express on McCart has been doing quality TexMex for about 30yrs.

Their sausage egg and cheese tacos are excellent as well as their carne guisada.

Family owned.

... Have been to the typical spots (Joe T's, Original, Julio's, etc.) quite a bit lately... Any hole in the walls that anyone would recommend?
Great location close to campus...as I understand it the owners daughter went to TCU. This is an excellent pre-game and post-game place to grab a meal.

I like the food at Candlelite Inn in Arlington. The guacamole sauce it excellent as is the salsa. If you like hot salsa ask for the green salsa.

Also, the Italian food and especially the pizza is good there. There is a bit of everything on the menu including decent steaks.
