Looking at 2010 season

Barring key injuries and/or coaches going brain dead, TCU appears to have the best chance of any major team to go undefeated into the bowl games.

Talent-wise, there's no team on the schedule that should be able to stay with the Frogs for four quarters.

In an old-fashioned, non-BCS world, TCU and the Virginia Tech-Boise State winner would be battling it out in the polls in late November for the "mythical" national championship.

tOSU is set up pretty nice as well.

True, but that is true for several teams (tOSU, Bama, Florida, Texas)

Maybe, but more than likely they would never end up playing, so we would never truly know (kinda like today).

The only team that has a better than even chance to defeat TCU is ......TCU .
If TCU plays up to potential and keeps their head in their helmet this could be another record setting season .

I posted this on this thread and it came up on another thread . ......Or I'm losing my mind again .
I just found it from last time I lost it ,at least I thought I found it .

I completely disagree. We were 1-0 in games last year where a player played with their head outside their helmet.

How can Florida and Bama both be more talented than everyone they play this year when they play eachother?

And Texas, really? I'm sorry but a new QB tells me they are a 3 loss team. Gilbert will be good, but he wasn't THAT impressive in the bowl game.

Is he any relation to Chris Gilbert?

I don't think OSU will pull off an undefeated season while Prior is there. That offense seems far too meltdown prone.

Should been a slash betwee Florida and Bama. One of them will be more talented than everyone they play this season.

Who is Texas gonna play that will be more talented than them this year? I think we all know the most talented team doesn't win every game (and I think Texas loses 1-3), but I don't think think Texas has a team on the sched this year with more talent than they have.

TCU only lost 2 when AD was a freshman. Gilbert won't be the problem. The terrible rush blocking, bad RBs and WRs might. I never said Gilbert was THAT impressive in a bowl game. He has impressed everyone eles, everywhere else. Good thing we don't judge AD just on his performance in his last bowl game.

Agreed, and he looked TERRIBLE in the spring game.

1. Abundant talent hasn't stopped Texas squandering their opportunities and failing to meet expectations too many times over the last eleven or so decades.

2. We went 8-5 when Dalton was a freshman.

1. That, of course, wasn't the issue. The issue was "Talent-wise, there's no team on the schedule that should be able to stay with the Frogs for four quarters." Same is true for Texas and the other teams I listed. That doesn't mean it will happen or is easy. Hell, Florida had never had an undefeated regular season until last year. I was pointing out that that is often true for several teams, and it doesn't mean they will go undefeated. Going undefeated is difficult no matter which league you play in.

2. Good point. I was thinking he was a freshman in 2006.

In the casino this morning TCU was posted at 19-1 to win the BCS National Championship. Boise State is 12-1 and Texas A&M is 95-1 just for comparison's sake.

That's interesting. Is the whole thing posted somewhere, or just in the casino?

So - when will the opening game odds be out? The Tater U. vs Va. Technical spread and the TCU vs Oregon State numbers are, of course, of special interest.

Yet you have not provided any parlay cards?

I miss living in Vegas. Five years was enough for me though.

I am more worried about 2011 when we play without Dalton, Young, Kerley, Johnson, Clay, Frosch, Kirkpatrick, Cannon, Vernon, Daniels, Griffin, Grant, Teague, TJ, Alex O., and a few reserves. Eight or nine wins may be a stretch!

If we take care of business this year, I can handle a down year next, esp if that means we start 2012 with an experienced QB and those other positions solidified.

nebraska aTm and OU all come to mind. If you think Texas just automatically has more talent than those teams then I disagree. QB is easilly the most important position and UT has a deficiency there. If you base Texas' "talent" on recruiting rankings then you must remember that arrests and guys leaving early always shave off some of that talent and depth.
