Hunter Black Commits to TCU


BRYAN, Texas (KRHD) — Hunter Black, a senior football player at Brazos Christian High School, has committed to play for TCU.

Hunter Black said his decision was made the moment he stepped on campus.

"I feel like they've put the most effort into recruiting me these past couple of months, and I really have a good relationship with the coaches now, and, you know, just taking my official visit just really like set it off for me, and I was like, this is where I want to be," Hunter said.

Football runs in the Black family. Hunter's father, Jordan Black, is the head coach at Brazos Christian and played 10 years in the NFL. Coach Black said he is balancing his emotions from both perspectives.

A 3-star Rivals player is a big time recruit? No knock on Hunter. Welcome to TCU! Hopefully he'll be a great player for us. But headline is misleading. We're the best team on his offer list. (Baylor, North Dakota State, Texas State, Tulane, Navy, Army, New Mexico, Air Force, North Texas)

So you are saying TCU is not "big time"? That is how I interpret it.

The way the article title reads, it is saying his high school is a small school that produced a big time recruit because he signed with TCU. TCU did not “produce” this recruit, so it can’t be saying that TCU is the small school.
It was a confusing headline, but after a few reads, that is my interpretation.
So, yeah, a three star recruit for a small private school who gets a D1 offer from a major conference school is probably a big deal. I don’t think TCU fans are the intended audience for this article, so it must be read from the POV of the intended audience.

I was messaging with Eight the other day, and he informed me Hunter Black is a 3-sport athlete (football, basketball, & track) who also has a father who was an NFL offensive tackle for 10 years. He is going to fill out, and his genes say he will be a stud.
Hunter Black: Finished his 13-game junior season with 44 tackles, 20 TFL, 12 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 punt block. He also added 3 receptions for 93 yards and 1 TD.

Jordan Black is a former offensive tackle who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame . During his 10-year professional career from 2003 to 2013, he played for Kansas City, Houston, Jacksonville, New Orleans, and Washington. He is currently the head football coach at Brazos Christian School in Bryan, Texas, where his son played Edge.
