Cardinals sign Matt Carpenter to 2-year extension; 'It’s an honor to put this jersey on'

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Wednesday, the Cardinals announced a two-year contract extension with Matt Carpenter.

Carpenter, 33, is a three-time All-Star and has topped the Cardinal lineup for nearly his entire career.

His previous deal, a six-year, $52 million contract, ran through 2019 with an $18.5 million team option for 2020.

He is back at 3rd. base now that the team signed Goldschmidt to play first base.
Oh yes, about the only thing he'll do to draw attention, is to flash the Frog knuckles up when the camera comes to call.
