Well done. Enjoyed hearing Coach Fran’s perspective on things. He seems like a genuine guy. I am happy for what he did at TCU and the animosity I carried related to his exit from TCU has dissipated after hearing him speak about it.

I honestly never was that upset at his decision to take the Alabama job. Leaving TCU to go Alabama would be a pretty easy call today. In 2000 it was an absolute no brainer. A WAC school for Alabama? Yeah of course. That never bugged me.

The way he handled the Heisman gala where he was there to support the guy who basically got him his new job, and his subsequent behavior at Alabama and A&M, on the other hand....

Of all the people we've interviewed over the years, I think Coach Fran had me the most nervous. I was a student when he took over and my final game as a member of the marching band was the Sun Bowl (still have my shirt). Standing on the sideline next to amazing friends and players as the final seconds ticked down, basking in the El Paso sun as a sea of purple cheered for the Frogs is something I'll never forget.

Just a reminder, Coach will be at the TCU bookstore today from 1–3 and you can get a signed copy of his book.
