Just heard one of my favorite play calls ever (MNF game)

Monday Night Football

Jets vs Titans... the game is just basically two teams that have no idea how to play football. Mark Sanchez has thrown 4 INTs... but they are only down four points with 2 minutes left... Jets get the ball down to the 23, Sanchez throws a duck. Titans go 3 and out and shank a punt, giving the Jets the ball at the Titans 23 with 47 seconds left... first snap goes straight to Sanchez's feet, he fumbles it, Titans recover. Mike Tirico's (I think) call right as the fumble happened:

"That's the way this game should end, that's the way the Jets season should end.... Ugly! And a loss!"

I'd recommend trying to find a clip. Pretty good.

Side note: that game sucked [Richard].

Like I said in my other post, I am so glad that LT isn't dealing with this [Craig James] anymore. Just hoping that Kerley gets traded to a good team with an even half way decent QB...common Bengals! Get Dalton his old favorite back!!!

Jets have to draft a QB or get somebody else this offseason. Mark Sanchez not only throws INTs, but they are complete gimme INTs. They aren't as a result of tip balls or layout INTs for the most part, they are just stand there and catch it INTs.

Kerley was wide open at least 3 times, and Dirty Sanchez could not throw to him.
Best line from NY Post columnist Steve Serby on Sanchez (concerning the last drive):

At a time when the Jets needed a titanic moment from him, Sanchez turned into the captain of the Titanic.

Why was this game on MNF? Isn't this during the end of season time where they can switch games around to avoid the Suckage like that?

I believe all the games are set a year out. For whatever reason, people thought the Jets would be good again. No idea how oddsmakers come up with crap when you have the 49ers and Patriots playing. Although they probably got pretty good viewership in the SUnday night game.

Guess this is as good a place as any to note that Mike Tirico is leaving ESPN for NBC.

Sean McDonough floated as a name that may replace him on MNF.

Tirico will probably do the NBC Thursday Night NFL games.

Was I supposed to type something here?
It's hard to top "He was giving him the business..."

Or the appalling Kevin Smith spitting on an Arkansas LB who had just intercepted him to seal the game. On seeing this, the venerable Keith Jackson stated: "Well, there go his All-America chances..."

Sports Illustrated had a great piece on the Browns-Broncos AFC Championship game that ended with The Fumble. Opening sentences: "Oh, to be a TV repairman in Cleveland today. There is probably no telling the number of ashtrays, drinks and clam-dip bowls that went sailing through Cleveland picture tubes on Sunday afternoon..."

Tirico annoyed me. But, of course, they'll find someone infinitely worse to replace him. Probably the ghastly Tony Kornheiser again...

As the camera panned in on a wide receiver who had just run a 50 yd fly route only to have the ball overthrown by inches, we see him explode with some projectile vomiting.  There is a pause, followed by:

Don Meredith:  "Now there's something you don't see every day."   Another pause, then:

Howard Cosell:  "As well you shouldn't."
