I remember being at the 2001 Nebraska game (Gary's first regular season game as HC) and Turntine being unconscious and carried off the field in Lincoln. During the postgame show, the Husker commentators said he was walking and ok. So many Husker fans expressed their concern for him while walking out of their stadium. He obviously played with alot of heart.

Not surprised. Sonny has not been able to recruit O linemen. Watched the 2021 TCU TECH game last night on BIG 12 Studios on ROKU. One thing CGP could do was recruit BIG O Linemen. Unfortunately this current regime can't seem to do that.

We’ve rarely been able to get guys from our own backyard. Yet we seem to do really well with Dallas schools. He probably wants to get out of town. But to not even make the top 10 for a local legacy kid is a pretty big egg on the face of the staff. Even moreso that SMU made the top 10.

Also kinda seems like the staff doesn’t have a great relationship with North Crowley

To not even make the top 10 when his father was a stud at TCU is shameful.

Might you be thinking of Jamal Powell? Played with Houston Texans for a few years, passed away from cancer around 3 years ago?
I think it was someone a few years before Powell, but I just can't recall for sure. You may be right about who I am thinking of.
