James Dunbar

Burner1

Tier 1
I have a question about the eligibility rules. Once final exams are concluded, if Dunbar's grades are good enough to regain eligibility, can he rejoin the team for the bowl game? Maybe just for the practices, to benefit for next season?

Don't quote me, but I believe he becomes eligible after finals if he is enrolled at TCU this fall ( to practice, not bowl game). If not enrolled at TCU this fall I think he has to wait until the spring.

A question for those who are familiar with Dunbar's situation. I have read several posts over the months that Dunbar does not take seriously his academic work. For two years he has not been elgible to play for TCU. Is he such a great offensive tackle that he is worth the trouble? It seems to me Dunbar has not lived up to his responsibity in the scholarsip agreement. Perhaps his scholarship should be given to someone else.

Can't practice or play unless enrolled full-time for the semester (exception if in grad school or need less than ft load to graduate). Since bowl is before the next semester start date he would not be eligible.

Big question if he will return. Heard Gildon might come back, in fact, he said he was. Also said he would be the only big linebacker when he arrived. But since saw where he was hurt, and might not come.

So, who knows???

Gildon already back on campus and expected to go through spring drills. Dunbar also already enrolled for spring as is Pachall so a lot of huge missing pieces will be back in place.

Abe Markowitz, USC OL, did finally recieve his 6th year eligability from NCAA... but scholly not available at USC. Why not our staff at least contact him about the possibilities... as we could grey shirt a T-Fr for the fall. Could use the depth from an experience lineman(with starting and lots of play time) while maturing up the kids.

Cheers !

I really hope Feisty has the right info on those 3. That could make a monster difference. I knew Pachall was back, but not the other 2.....Not sure Gildon is the total answer at linebacker, but any good news there is worth mentioning.

We need a junior college fast linebacker.OAE

Deryck Gildon
Joel Hasley
Marcus Mallet
Paul Dawson
AJ Hilliard
Jordan Moore
Dac Shaw
Sammy Douglas
Paul Whitmill

Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but that seems like a fairly solid list, and I think we'll be OK next year even if we don't add another linebacker. Would really help if someone like a Jordan Moore or a AJ Hilliard could step up and really push for a starting job.

We are going to be fine at LB. Gildon would have started last year. He's 230 pounds. If that's not a big enough LB then I don't know who is. Hilliard will have another year on the weights. Same with Dawson. Mallett showed lots of improvement under Coach Shannon. We have depth and major talent at every position on the defense going into next year. As long as we all make the proper sacrifices and have some better luck this offseason we should have an incredible defense next year.
