Is this a turning point in TCU football?

dude, it was a total miss.
dude.....those kinds of things happen all the time. Remember when we went into a season with Shawn Robinson as our starting QB? Who was responsible for that talent evaluation?

All the coaching geniuses on here who opine on everything, and not one of them had any problem with SD going with Morris that August. We had seen Duggan struggle for three years, and honestly, it's pretty easy to see how Morris would show better in a practice setting when QBs aren't running and getting hit.

The revisionist history on here is something else.

GP got TCU to 3 different NY6/BCS/Whatever Bowls and 2 Alamo Bowls. He sustained success for quite some time. But after the 2017 Alamo Bowl, when there was a drop, it only took about 3 years for folks to call for his head.

No different than what you see now, except Dykes has shown the same pattern he has had at other stops.

There is no axe to grind for those who are saying what they are saying. Most of them pointed out his record at other schools and the losses to lesser teams. And many of them also called for GP's head.

As far as the idea that TCU would be so far down the list on coaching hires, that's complete nonsense. The facilites and the recruiting are a huge bonus for TCU. Agents watch the place like a friggin hawk.
IMO the drop occurred after 2015.

He had this weird deal where he coddled Kenny Hill unlike any player I had seen him coddle. I think that's when he sort of started becoming something that he had never been before, and when the program started to show some pretty big leaks. And then he just ramped that up with his handling of Zack Evans, that was bizarre and the icing on the cake. It was like he couldn't believe a kid like the great Zack Evans chose to play for him and he was almost afraid of coaching him.

This team is so painful to watch. They constantly struggle to do anything well, and then someone always makes a brainless mistake....

Special Teams are abysmal and Tommerdahl should be fired immediately.
We can’t punt, or kick a 20 yd FG. We can’t cover kicks/punts, and we haven’t been able to return a punt/kick for a TD in 5 YEARS!
Going all the way back to LaTerance Dunbar, TCU nearly always had a really good return threat. We are dead last this year in punt returns. At least Everhart has shown some promise the last few games on kick-off returns.

We had several season-saving returns from people like Bonner, Rodgers, McCoy, Kerley, Turpin, Reagor and Davis over the years.

We look anemic in the return game today.

Was I supposed to type something here?

I wonder what Dan Sharp is doing these days?

We are past our turning point and are on the fast track to irrelevancy. It was the dumbest mistake ever to extend SD's contract after one season. That team was Patterson's and was lead by a warrior in Max Duggan who wasn't even going to start. All SD had to do his first season was get out of the way and let the seniors lead that team. We have now seen what SD coaching abilities truly are and the verdict is 8-4, 7-5, 6-6 teams if we are lucky. He and his coaching staff don't have his teams prepared to win games they should win and clearly isn't coaching them up. There is is no excuse for that. I couldn't believe last night post game he said that when the running back fumbled, that there needed to be better coaching. He makes 7.5 million a year to coach football and manage a group of assistants. The whole program needs to be evaluated top to bottom. SD needs to get rid of Briles whose contract is up this year and also get rid of Ricker. We have scored 10pts in the last 5 games in the 1st quarter and we can't run the football. This is do or die time for TCU football and not being ranked or playing for a conference title is greatly hurting us. We need to have the same chip on our shoulder that we did when we were left behind from the SWC and forced to join the WAC. There will be another re-alignment and it will be devastating to be left out.
Simple answer ---- you are living in the distant pass as the Portal has completely changed the NCAA
primarily football at the moment and it will get even worse in the future. Old rich hell, even young men with their money and egos will continue to use this as the primary tool to obtain talent ($$$$$ it is expensive so open your wallets) for both the field and the sideline.
