CCD: Compulsive Contrarian Disorder. What did Max accomplish before Dykes got here? I think they were good for each other, and I'm sure Max would say the same.
Dykes chose Chandler Morris as his starter in 2022. It took a first game Morris knee injury for Dykes to give Max a chance. What did Max accomplish before Dykes got here? I think they were good for each other, and I'm sure Max would say the same.
I don't know if you attend games regularly, but as others (and maybe you specifically) have mentioned, the number of almost 3-minute commercial breaks throughout the games are ridiculous. All I'll say is if you are taking someone or a group of people for the first time, make sure they REALLY love football or they will be broken by the end, unless it's a barnburner of a game. The first half Saturday but bad, but it was made much worse by all the TV timeouts. That and the unrealistic prices for season tickets.
Mad Max only got the start because of the injury, not because CSD preferred him. Then CSD let Max have his reigns when he demonstrated true Frog Factor.. I don't remember any great coaching, and the leadership came from the team. The staff was along for the ride.Dykes chose Chandler Morris as his starter in 2022. Yep, he did. And I don't remember anyone here having a problem with Morris being the starter based on what we saw from Max for three years, and how Morris performed vs Baylor in 2021. No one.Dykes chose Chandler Morris as his starter in 2022. It took a first game Morris knee injury for Dykes to give Max a chance.
Totally agree. The breaks are brutal and there are so many of them. I have season tickets and even stayed all the way to the end to watch TCU beat Baylol.I don't know if you attend games regularly, but as others (and maybe you specifically) have mentioned, the number of almost 3-minute commercial breaks throughout the games are ridiculous. At the end of the day it's all about how much money they can extract from our pockets. There's not even any trying to hide it anymore. We're just rooting for a bunch of vagabonds (who barely even go to class for all I know) wearing our school colors looking to cash in a little as though it really means something. I suppose it does but I'm not really sure why.
You might be right on the latter part, but you almost never hear about any kid being ineligible because of grades anymore like you used to. Anywhere, not just at TCU. I just don't think anyone really cares anymore. I assume it's basically free grades that are being handed out in many cases.Totally agree. The breaks are brutal and there are so many of them. We also have to remember, that most of the roster does not bounce around. It illustrates the higher profile kids that want to upgrade in team and money. That is why it seems so prevalent. Most of those kids I am sure go to class. If they dont and fail, they have to go to summer school to make sure they are eligible when they start their next school. Those grades count. Those that are at the end of their career, do not have to go to class if they do not want to, they just need be enrolled.
No doubt on kids bouncing around, but also many do not find places or they take a step down. You might be right on the latter part, but you almost never hear about any kid being ineligible because of grades anymore like you used to. There are an awful lot of kids bouncing around. WAY more than before.
We don’t go to the NC game in 2022 with Morris.Yep, he did. And I don't remember anyone here having a problem with Morris being the starter based on what we saw from Max for three years, and how Morris performed vs Baylor in 2021. No one.
GP brought in Alex Delton and thought he'd be a good fill-in starter in 2019. And there are so many examples of great coaches who didn't "start the better QB" until he was forced to. Happens all the time. Heck, in the NFL every GM and coach passed on Tom Brady 6 times before the Patriots decided to take him. Look at Kurt Warner's history, you don't think some great coaches sort of missed on him?
Very most likely not. I'm not sure what the point is though. We did go to the NC game.We don’t go to the NC game in 2022 with Morris.
And here's another one. What if Trevone Boykin decided to transfer after his Sophomore season? In this current environment he surely would have, given how he was jacked around with, being moved to WR, Joeckel being brought in from A&M to replace him, etc. GP surely didn't know exactly what he had at that time, did he?We don’t go to the NC game in 2022 with Morris.
We got lucky in multiple games that season and escaped with victories. Mainly because what you pointed to. In that first game vs CO Morris was hurt with about 5 min. left in the 3rd Q. We had scored 14 points at that point. In the last 20 minutes of the game we scored 24. Duggan rushed for 41. Duggan did well in the passing game but the running aspect and toughness made all the difference the rest of the season.Very most likely not. I'm not sure what the point is though. You can play those what-ifs all the time. Had we lost to Michigan by 3 points and not had to play Georgia, I think this program would probably be in a far better place right now. But we beat them.
Boykin had many issues but under Patterson it worked out just fine, with TCU ending 2014 as arguably the best team in college football. And here's another one. What do 2014 and 2015 look like then?
The starting Morris over Duggan thing is a perfect example of going out of your way to criticize a guy, IMHO.In that first game vs CO Morris was hurt with about 5 min. left in the 3rd Q. Maybe it’s a what-if game, but head coaches make the big bucks to make these key assessments.
And it worked out just fine with Duggan here. And you want to pretend it was like an accident or something. And that everything that transpired prior to 2014 was all some grand plan leading up to '14-15. LOL.Boykin had many issues but under Patterson it worked out just fine, with TCU ending 2014 as arguably the best team in college football.
Seems like a pretty important criterion in evaluating head coaches. You constantly go out of your way criticizing Patterson, but I just see that as part of the discussion. The starting Morris over Duggan thing is a perfect example of going out of your way to criticize a guy, IMHO.
Grand plan?? No idea what you are referring to.And it worked out just fine with Duggan here. And you want to pretend it was like an accident or something. And that everything that transpired prior to 2014 was all some grand plan leading up to '14-15. LOL.
