I would say it'd be best to go to 12.

Houston and SMU will bring a lot more than I think people realize. Plus, we can schedule SMU for real games and not have to worry about taking them lightly. You know how CGP feels about conference games.

I dont know, just bored I guess.

I agree. I think SMU is on the rise and has Alum money to propel its program like TCU, but not as far. Houston just unveiled a new stadium plan and Fresno St. has been consistently better than average year end in and year out. It would be great for TCU to have at least two guaranteed games in Texas every year. The key for TCU is to just continue winning games. Like CGP said TCU is a BCS school. We will be fine and we have a overwhelmingly positive image now in the ESPN era of sports coverage. I wish we would strike a deal with Fox Sports Southwest to replay our games during the week in DFW and Houston market.

P.S.- I love making eye contact with the UT shirt wearing people at my 24 hour fitness in Houston. I look up at them they look at the ground. Thanks TCU Baseball.

Probably agree.

But you don't add just to get to 12.

#1 Priority -- Add markets that will improve your next TV negotiations. (And that doesn't not mean automatic inclusion for UH or SMU.) You have to look at Memphis (even with their academic rep and recent basketball scandal). After that, you're kind of hurting for top candidates, especially without watering down your product.

I don't have any problem with the three mentioned. My question would be does it increase revenue? Does it get us an AQ spot? I like a 9 team conference, but expansion would be fine if we improve the conference.

There is only one way to get some foothold back in FW/D, and that is to take it back by force. Texas is afraid of TCU and SMU getting back to national prominence together. They know that we will gain tv sets and butts in the seats.

The question is whether SMU and Houston help us negotiate better TV deals ... if not, then they bring nothing to the conference. They won't get us into the BCS and they don't travel. The only other benefit is reduce travel costs if MWC splits into two divisions and we don't have to go to Boise and Wyoming as often.

that's what I said yesterday and got ripped.

Did we lose UTAH? I'm thinking we don't? They are well down on the revenue list, something the pac-10 really isn't looking for??

We have not lost Utah--and I think there's a 50% chance the PAC 10 stops expanding and waits another year or more to act again. They are humiliated by the snub, didn't really want a playoff, and will see no reason to bring in another non-marquee school.

Bet they wish they could throw CU back.

I really think they will wait as well.....that would be great for the MWC, we can get that BCS auto-bid with the 10 in place.....we deserve that, especially if Big 12 lite gets one......heck, Colorado could come our way, then we can add Houston or Fresno then......but 10 is perfect for us.

I know most on this board are not Houston fans; I'm not either and I live here. But isn't there something to be said for having a game in Houston every other year? This is a big recruiting area (football and baseball). I would think MWC would want to extend into the Houston market as well.

I'm not sure why it doesn't make sense -- educate me.

If we lose Utah, it's probably best to wait. We can see how the BCS auto-bid shakes out and then look into expansion. All of the teams mentioned here (Fresno, UTEP, Houston, SMU, Tulsa) will still be available when we get around to them. Well, the Big East might look into adding an SMU or a Houston, but TCU would be higher on their list than either of those, so no real worries there. So, we wait.
