The Mountain West Conference has never been closer to becoming an automatic-qualifying conference in the Bowl Championship Series - and Boise State's ability to bolster that case is a key reason the Broncos are a strong candidate to join the league in 2011.
The Mountain West has two routes to automatic-qualifier status.
