I hope our OCs are watching Louisville call plays tonight

And Clemson v LSU. Packaged plays, finding mismatches, getting players into space, sequencing plays, building upon what you've done.... Or, they could decide why bother with all that stuff.

Louisville couldn't do that last year either, geniuses. It was Bridgewater's second season, with a year under his belt and more talent around him, that it happened.

Really tired of all the crapping all over people, particularly when it is mainly just half-baked garbage (they should be more creative! then it would be better! let's ignore the fact that our young offense struggled to execute the basic plays this year!). But y'all seem to enjoy it so have fun.

Have you seen how much time Bridgewater has had to throw the football?

Have you noticed how their OC has spread the FL defense all over the field, given his QB run/pass options, and mixed up his run/pass on first down so as to force FL to account for different possibilities on every down? That is certainly not the only factor but it helps.

TCU Spreads the field. Boykin has plenty of run/pass options on pass plays. TCU couldn't run the ball all year. You have no point.

When your line can't block your playbook shrinks.

I'd split our offensive problems...

40% QB
40% OLine
20% OCs

Can't blame any individual unit entirely, but all three are subpar. Can't have that if you are interested in winning a NC

I think I do have a point but we have a difference of opinion. First, I was not just speaking relative to TCU but in general that their strategy was helping their OL which probably could not win head up battles with the FL DL for the entire game.

Second, the run/pass I was refering to are plays where, depending on the defense, there is an option to hand off or go to a (usually) short pass. To your point, Boykin has had some plays where he rolls out with the option of throwing or passing. Probably not enough.

To your other point, no doubt the playbook shrunk because of QB and O-line play because we used to do that a lot more. The type of plays that I was speaking of may have been deleted because they would tend to go over the middle and somewhere along the line they stopped letting TB throw to the middle very often.

It would have been nice if, with nearly a month to prepare for our bowl game, some of these things could have been installed but maybe they tried and it just didn't work. Either way, I didn't see it.

I hope you guys banging on the OC arent using the Mst game as evidence to justify your opinions. If executed properly all three of the first drives would have resulted in td's. Not sure if they simplified the play calling after that but if they did it was for a reason.

I've been very critical of the OCs at times, but I'm not sure it's fair to compare the offenses of Louisville and TCU. Louisville has a QB that was absolutely great tonight at throwing over the middle, which allowed Louisville to kill Florida with crossing patterns and slants. They put up Bridgewaters stats sometime in the 3rd quarter and he was still 100% on throws over the middle.

TCU on the other hand played this season with QB that absolutely no ability to throw over the middle. Our OCs were forced to pretty much throw away every single slant and crossing that was in our playbook. If Louisville's offensive coaches had to do the same, I doubt their playcalling would have looked as good.

It sure does...to the point where, as Frogs1983 says, our "185 lb soaking wet Frosh RB up the middle 3 times in a row please on 1st & Goal while our bruising 225 lb. Senior RB observes from the sidelines!"...or where we decided to run into the heart of their defense on 2nd down every stinking series for a minimal gain. You'd think by the 3rd quarter someone would have realized that wasn't working.

I'm not sure if Frogs1983 was being literal or just throwing it out there, but this didn't happen. We were 1st & Goal one time in the entire game and Tucker got the ball 2 out of the 3 plays and scored on his second carry.
