Hypesman campaign for Jason "lockdown" Verrett

[Originalteabag]

I have so little respect for the award but the powers that be are starting to push for more exposure to defensive players. If a freshman named Johhny football can win it then why not a great defensive player named Jason "lockdown" Verrett. He is a great story and deserves some credit for staying.

Not sure a defensive player will ever win a Heisman Trophy in the future, but see no reason he should not be able to win a Jim Thorpe Award.

Clowney will be one of the early favorites next fall.

Correct. The powers that be are talking defensive players. There is always a first time.

If Charles Woodson won it with the help of returning kicks, JV needs to be returning kicks next year

Predator can do it all.

"Lockdown" Verrett

sounds like a ring name for a WWF fighter.
