How much does each team spend

Thank you Crypto... great article.

Obviously, this is football not the athletic programs overall. Will be interesting to see the numbers coming out in late October through (EADA Reports) to the Dept of Education (Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act) that show budget changes across all sports for the first time giving our first glimpse of revenue sharing - contrasted against prior year reports where revenue sharing / support services / NIL funneling is not reported, that will be interesting.

Key takeaway for me is legislation:

Desperate to help stabilize the market, the NCAA and Power 4 continue to lobby Congress to pass the Protect College Sports Act. If passed in its current form, the bill would create a new parallel revenue sharing cap for roster retention of $22.5 million, plus $5 million reserved for women’s and Olympic sports.

All told, schools could be permitted to spend around $49 million. But of course, there are several football programs spending more than that already. And the list will likely be even longer next fall.

However, legislation (needed) naturally then leads us back to pre-NIL behavior and bags of cash. There will always be the Balmers of the world. Most will follow the guidelines as they will be stretching to meet any payments and those who don't comply usually, eventually get Mustanged.

The fact that pay is the "most closely guarded secret" is why this sport has caused me to try to stop watching (I can't cut the cord entirely but I've scaled waaaay back).

Develop a cap (at minimum required reporting) and some contractual control (reduced transfers, buyouts, something) and you might get the sport back on track.

Some teams are spending more on the football roster alone than what they used to spend on the entire AD and that doesn't include coaches.
An interesting add on would be what % of budget is spent on Football, other sports and is there a FAIR distribution based on what sports are providing revenue. For instance, if a schools women's basketball team is providing 7% of the Universities revenue while receiving 25% of the proceeds then do the Men's basketball teams receive 35% of proceed while providing 30% of the Revenue?

What if most of the school administrators believe in redistribution of wealth, Howard Zinn and Norm Chomsky ? Then the system is screwier than we could have could have imagined.

If we’re out of the conference title hunt by November (again), “talks” better be happening
As long as we can finish 6-6 the Board of Trustees will not act because that 6-6 record puts us in a toilet bowl game. The thought process again, of John Roach, Franchione, GP. Vic, and CDC are nothing but favorable and exciting memories for us. This is a new path that the Board has Chosen.

Alternatively we could spend the money on baseball, volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball and all 4 sports could be dominant.
