How has our offensive line recruiting been the last couple of years?

Not sure if you're implying we don't care that much about OL recruiting relative to other positions, or if you're talking about whether or not we recruit O-Linemen who weigh a lot. If its the former, you're wrong, we definitely understand that having good OL is important and focus on it as much as other positions.

If it's the latter, I've noticed we focus more on big frames and good footwork, then beef them up if necessary once they get to campus.

Size, like the 320+. And althought I agree with your point. It doesn't seem like we focus on them as much as other positions.

I absolutely LOVE Collins...except for the occasional PF or False Start.

Just change the snap count to 1 and that takes care of half the problem.

not a recruiting problem as much as lots of bad luck all in the same year

1 bobby thompson and michael thompson both hurt
2 bryant the blocking TE hurt
3 dunbar, wellington, and wall grades
4 horn off field conduct

that is almost half the O line gone

naff, wooldridge and brady foltz need another year to develop too early to call it on those three

I'd say over the years we went from decent to good and about to have an explosion next year in the recruiting. 2014 recruiting is looking pretty good right now.

I want to know why the 2011 OL recruiting class (Bobby Thompson, Brady Foltz, Jamelle Naff) has been beaten out across the board by the 2012 OL recruiting class (Big V, Collins, Hunt).

Shouldn't the RS Freshman, with their extra year of experience, have been the guys who filled in this year at O line as opposed to the true freshman? Why is Bobby behind not one, but two true freshman linemen on the OT depth chart? At the interior line spots, why did both Brady Foltz and Jamelle Naff get beat out by a true freshman who played DT in high school?

Be patient, which is usually the key for OL guys....Thompson has been hurt....Naff will yet be okay, and Foltz, like his brother, may just take a couple years to mature. Ideally, OL redshirts, then plays little or none his 2nd year, then plays some 3rd year, and then starts as a junior and a senior. It is a position most guys have to grow into, both physically and otherwise. Problem this year was between January and September Frogs lost four tackles (Dunbar, Wall, Wellington and Horn) and had two others (Thompson and Thompson) out for the year or most of it. Take 6 scholarship OTs off of anyone's roster and things are not as rosy as they might have been.

Not sure but with Dunbar, Tayo, Vatai and Collins you have a heck of a 2 deep at OT. Hunt & Childs at center and then Michael Thompson and Erik Tausch, with Foltz II/Naff and Woolridge rotating in at guards is a very nice OL.

Not sure but with Dunbar, Tayo, Vatai and Collins you have a heck of a 2 deep at OT. Hunt & Childs at center and then Michael Thompson and Erik Tausch, with Foltz II/Naff and Woolridge rotating in at guards is a very nice.

This has been Michael Thompsons 2nd knee injury and really would like to see him come in next year 25 ibs lighter, at 327lbs and help blow out D-line's D tackels. The kid came in at 6'4'' 315lbs with a 4.9 40 out of High School. That's awefully athletic for that size.

What hurts is when they leave after a few years! Remember the 2009 class with Horn, Dunbar, Woolridge and Tausch. Two gone and only one contributing at this point. Then the 2010 class of Thompson & Wellington! One hurt and the other gone.

This seems like a good idea to me. We could use another guard but seem to have good depth at tackle. If he doesn't have to cut off the outside rush he will be less likely to false start, and can use his strength inside.

It seems like they don't spend a whole lot of time trying to get big OL recruits. Don't know why because it all starts with the OL.

Agree, it feels that way... but think they've learned their lesson this year, though they did a credible job with 3 starting 1st year players with no college game time experience.
